Power
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." - Jimi Hendrix
This quote basically means that in our world power is more important than love and that only when this is reversed the world will know peace. I think that Jimi Hendrix is implying that power disrupts peace and that power can be linked to the start of many wars. This quote looks at the negative affects of power if not used properly. When power falls into the wrong hands in can be devastating.
Examples:
Power by Kanye West - This song states many different things about power. It takes a look at both the positives and the negatives of power. I think the line "No one man should have all that power" really represents this idea well. I think that Kanye is implying that when people are given to much power bad things happen.
Adolf Hitler Germany 1934 - 45
Abuse of Power by Michael Savage
“He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still.” - Lao-Tzu
This quote is saying that people who control others are powerful but people who can control themselves are even more powerful. If you go even further, I think that he is implying that power from within is more important than power from without.
Examples:
I've got the power by Snap
Survivors of narural disasters i.e. Haiti earthquakes, Japan tsunami etc.
Personnal Power by Anthony Robbins
Nate, a good topic choice. I like the idea of power from without and power from within as your two subtle sides as you can get into personal power and natural or governmental power here.
ReplyDeleteConsider looking at the stories of survivors maybe from WWII Holocaust or tragedies like the 2001 Tsunami or Japan's earthquake and Tsunami last year) What kind of personal power did it take (courage, tenacity) to survive the huge losses they experienced (the losses were created by the power of government and nature respectfully - and showed a powerlessness of man)?
Before posting, make sure you carefully check your spelling etc. there are a few typos you will need to fix.
A good start!
Are you sure you meant pride and not power as your topic?
